Conspiracy to commit human trafficking lawyers
Five people face charges of human trafficking for allegedly operating brothels in Lakewood that were part of a large prostitution network in several states including New Jersey. Four Lakewood men and one Union City resident are charged with trafficking women from Mexico to the United States to work as prostitutes, according to a release from the State. The alleged ringleader’s girlfriend also was also arrested for assisting them in operating the brothels.
Popular. The arrests mark the first time that charges have been filed in New Jersey under a new new human trafficking law. The law created new crimes of human trafficking, including the offense of first-degree conspiracy to commit human trafficking, as well as enhanced penalties for such crimes.
The alleged “owner” of the Lakewood brothels, Jose Cruz Romero-Flores, 38, a.k.a. “Chato,” was arrested on Thursday, July 11, at his apartment on River Avenue in Lakewood on charges of first-degree human trafficking, second-degree promoting organized street crime, and third-degree promoting prostitution.
Also arrested on July 11 were:
Felix Rios-Martinez, 47, of Lakewood, who was charged with first-degree conspiracy to commit human trafficking, second-degree promoting organized street crime and third-degree promoting prostitution;
Raul Romero-Castillo, 30, of Lakewood, who was charged with first-degree conspiracy to commit human trafficking, second-degree promoting organized street crime and third-degree promoting prostitution.
Santos Lazaero Flores-Cruz, 58, of Union City, who was charged with second-degree conspiracy to commit human trafficking, second-degree promoting organized street crime and third-degree promoting prostitution.
Haliro Bueno, 21, of Lakewood, who was charged with second-degree conspiracy to commit human trafficking, second-degree promoting organized street crime and third-degree promoting prostitution.
Romero-Flores’s girlfriend, Odulia Bedran Trejo, 22, was arrested on Sunday, July 14, at Romero-Flores’s apartment on charges of second-degree promoting organized street crime and third-degree promoting prostitution.
The girlfriend and four others allegedly assisted Romero-Flores by watching the brothels, driving women and clients to-and-from the brothels and carrying out other tasks. The girlfriend also allegedly helped to find women for the brothels, according to the State. The first-degree human trafficking charge carries a sentence of 20 years to life in state prison.
On July 11, detectives and agents executed search warrants for the brothel on Brook Road and Romero-Flores’s home, as well as several vehicles, seizing about $5,800 in cash, identification documents including Mexican passports and driver’s licenses, cell phones, laptops, and ledgers that listed the names of women who worked in the brothels and dates they were scheduled to work.

Former Red Bank Mayor Edward McKenna Jr. has pleaded not guilty to driving while intoxicated during a single-car crash on the Garden State Parkway last month, according to the Asbury Park Press. McKenna was driving northbound on the Parkway in Tinton Falls at around 9:50 p.m. on May 13, when he struck the right guardrail, police said. His car then spun to face oncoming traffic and continued on the roadway before crossing into the shoulder where it came to a stop, police said. McKenna, who served as Red Bank’s mayor from 1990 to 2006, was subsequently charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and unsafe lane change.

Two Neptune men are facing numerous drug charges after a lengthy investigation led to the discovery of heroin, cocaine, other drugs and drug paraphernalia in their homes, the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office announced Tuesday. Lovester Wright, 39, and Keith Collins, 38, were charged after a search warrant was executed at their Neptune homes. More than a half of an ounce of powder cocaine, more than a half of an ounce of crack cocaine and Clonazepam, a prescription controlled dangerous substance, were seized from Wright’s home on Tide Place, authorities said. The search of Collins’ home turned up more than a half of an ounce of heroin and undisclosed quantities of cocaine, methamphetamines and anabolic steroids. Tools and materials for packaging and selling controlled dangerous substances were also found, authorities said. Wright was charged with two counts of second-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance with the intent to distribute and three counts of third-degree possession of controlled dangerous substances. Collins was charged with one count of second-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance with the intent to distribute, three counts of third-degree possession with intent to distribute controlled dangerous substances, four counts of third-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance and one count of first-degree maintaining a controlled dangerous substance production facility.

A registered nurse was arrested and charged with stealing prescription opioids from the hospital where he works, with the intent to deal them, authorities said. Seth Kaplan who works at Centra State Medical Center in Freehold, was pulled over near his home in Manahawkin on Monday night. Officers allegedly found syringes filled with liquid hydromorphine and Morphine Sulfate and a pill bottle containing a mix of prescription pills inside Kaplan’s car. At the home, detectives allegedly found 32 syringes with different amounts of hydromorphine, Morphine Sulfate, Demoral and Diazepam – as well as Oxycodone, Oxycontin and Codeine pills. Kaplan is charged with various counts of drug possession and intent to distribute for the alleged hydromorphine, Morphine Sulfate, Oxycodone and Oxycontin.

A 56-year-old township man was charged with multiple offenses after he took a television from a house in Ocean Township. An investigation led police to James Shea, 56, of Ocean Township, after a resident reported their home and vehicle were burglarized. The resident told police his LCD television was stolen, personal belongings were removed from his car and the vehicle’s windshield was smashed. Shea was charged with two counts of burglary, two counts of criminal mischief, theft, harassment and possession of burglar’s tools.

Monmouth County Armed Robbery Lawyer | Middletown armed robbery suspects arrested
Middletown Police arrested two Monmouth County residents and charged them with multiple offenses Burglary, Robbery, Theft, Conspiracy, Unlawful Possession of a Handgun, Possession of a Handgun for an Unlawful Purpose, two counts of Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Possession of Xanax, Unlawful Possession of Alprazolam and Unlawful Possession of Clonazapam and Obstructing the Administration of Law. A Passaic County Sheriff’s Department sweep around the streets of Paterson netted eight arrests this week, including two alleged drug dealers.
According to the Sheriff, detectives focused on areas where residents had complained about unusual pedestrian and vehicle traffic that seemed to indicates drug sales were occurring. Arrests were made at Spruce and Grand Street, Jefferson and North 6th Street, Auburn Street and Broadway, West Broadway and Memorial Drive, and at 450 Kearney Street. Among those arrested were Mario Rosignano of Paterson, who was allegedly found with more than five pounds of marijuana and 1.2 ounces of cocaine at his home. Police also found various drug paraphernalia including scales, cutting agents and packaging equipment. He was charged with drug distribution offenses and held at the Passaic County Jail.

Bergen County men charged with selling guns stolen from family of Saddam Hussein
Two Bergen County men were arrested Thursday on charges they tried to sell guns that may have once belonged to the family of former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein. The firearms, including semi-automatic pistols, 12 gauge shotguns and magnum revolvers, were appraised at between $250,000 and $350,000.According to a criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Newark, federal agents determined that 48-year-old David Phillip Ryan, of Miami, Fla., contacted a Pittsburgh, Pa. man, 52-year-old Karlo Sauer, to appraise the guns. In turn, Sauer passed information on to 74-year-old Fort Lee resident Howard Blumenthal and Carlos Quirola-Ordonez, 55, of New Milford, in an effort to find a buyer. As the guns were shopped, they were stored in an unnamed sporting goods store in Ridgefield.According to the criminal complaint, the U.S. ambassador to Iraq later confirmed that the guns were the property of Iraq, and warrants for Ryan, Sauer, Blumenthal and Quirola-Ordonez were issued. Each is charged with conspiracy to transport stolen firearms and conspiracy to sell and receive stolen property. Ryan is also charged with an additional count of unlawful mailing of firearms.
